Here is third artwork idea for your valentines, previously we shared Deep Freeze and Clouds by Duke Windsor and Elephant by Cynthia Rowley. Hopefully you will like this one too.
Emily Halpern received her BFA from Pratt Institute in New York City and her MFA from San Diego State University in California.  She has developed a personal pictorial language of symbols which are intuitive and symbolic rather than descriptive.  Her process seeks to map her inner world and open the locked door of the unconscious through methods suggested by Surrealism.  Archetypal imagery resurfaces throughout her paintings and acts as a surrogate for the self. The cryptic narratives leave gaps for viewers to fill in, as a springboard for their own imaginations.

Emily Halpern

Emily's paintings map her inner world and express an emotional landscape of dreams and fears. They are a diary of fragments from dreams, incidents from daily life, and internal monologues that ground the work in a personal mythology. Strong undercurrents of emotion combine with murky narratives of danger, loss and destruction and reflect a disjointed sense of unease in an unpredictable world. The work is derived from my life experiences, relationships and current events in the world. The main source of the work, however, is drawn from opening the locked door of the unconscious through processes inspired by Sigmund Freud, Carl Gustav Jung and Surrealism. Emily aspires to create work that deepens our understanding of the ways in which certain personal meanings reflect the complex matrix of universally shared emotions.
